This Harley-Davidson Has a Story

This is far more than a custom-painted Harley-Davidson touring motorcycle. It began as a serialized 2023 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited 120th Anniversary Edition and became the Great American Freedom Machine ... a rolling veterans tribute created for Run for the Wall.

The motorcycle traveled to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and other meaningful locations across America. Along the way, veterans representing different branches of the United States Armed Forces and multiple military campaigns signed its bodywork. The names of troops killed in action were added by their Gold Star families, turning this motorcycle into a living memorial to courage, service, sacrifice and freedom.

A One-of-One American Freedom Machine

Its deep red anniversary finish is covered with hand-painted American imagery, including bald eagles, flowing United States flags, the Liberty Bell, the Iwo Jima flag-raising and the words Land of the Free, Let Freedom Ring and Freedom Machine. The fairing, Tour-Pak and saddlebags carry authentic signatures, service branches, units, campaigns, memorial inscriptions and personal messages from the people whose stories this motorcycle represents.

It also carries its Run for the Wall route marking from California to Washington, D.C., POW/MIA remembrance graphics and memorial wristbands. These are not decorative reproductions. They are part of the motorcycle's journey and provenance.

The Motorcycle That Was Saved

When the motorcycle eventually ended up with a bank, Bartels' Harley-Davidson was asked whether the custom paint and signatures should be removed. The answer was simple: No. Preserve it exactly as it is.

Bartels' has supported veterans for generations, and erasing this history was never an option. The motorcycle was saved intact so its story could continue with a new caretaker who understands what it carries.
