Gilroy Indian Motorcycles did produce a small number of 2004 models, but the factory shut down in September 2003, so these bikes were never officially released and became rare collector's items, with only about 40 completed before the closure and sold off later at auction. These "stillborn" 2004 models featured redesigned components, including a new Powerplus engine, intended to improve reliability.
